…..Global Youths Representatives of Nigera joins the campaign against #SARSbrutality
The Global Youths Representatives of Nigeria, a nongovernmental organization which spread across the 36 states in Nigeria, has expressed dismay on the continuous harassment, undeserved intimidation and brutality by the Security Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
In a statement by the Ebonyi state Publicity Secretary, Amb Martin’s Chinonso Nwede, said the Security agents are saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and properties and not the opposite, nothing that GYR are stricken with the level of reported cases of SARS brutality which has sparked peaceful protest by Nigerian Youths across the Country expressing displeasure on the disastrous and whimsical attitude of SARS on the law abiding citizen’s of Nigeria.
Chinonso mentained that the level of campaign on Media hastagged: #EndSARS by the people from all walks of life has further buttress the quantum of SARS inhumane to law abiding citizen’s in the guise of trying to curb criminality.
“The number of innocent citizens been maimed and killed recklessly by SARS officials is uncalled for. We note that amidst the Security challenges that has enveloped our nation, SARS operative rather than joining forces to subvert the upsurge restored to intimidation, harassment, extortion and unlawful arrest of Nigerians going on their daily business”. He said
“In view of the continuous maiming of Innocent Nigerians by the set of bad wagons hiding under SARS to perpetrate evils, we equivocally condemned their uncivil activities and join other well meaning Nigerians on the campaign tagged: #EndSARS to ensure that sanity is brought to SARS department”. It added
GYR therefore beacon on the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Idris to ensure that the resolve to reform SARS and other equivalent Security Agencies is achieved.
“Security Agencies cannot carry out their duties without the help of ordinary Nigerians who would provide them with vital and useful information when there is security threat”. He said
“We appreciate the effort of the Vice President Prof Yemi Osibanjo and other Political bigwigs who has shown concern on the need to Reform SARS operative having witnessed the nuisance they constitute to the peace and Unity in Nigeria”.
Our Chapter implore Nigerian Youths and Civil Society Organisation not to sit tight while the #EndSARS campaign soar, but rather join forces within the confine of the law to demonstrate their grievances on this barbaric actions of SARS Operatives which has sent many to their early grave.
