The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has appointed Hon. Justice Lekan Adekanye Ogunmoye as the Acting Chief Judge of the state.

This appointment follows the recent passing of Chief Judge Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye, who died on Monday, November 4, 2024.

The governor’s decision was based on the authority vested in him under Section 271 (4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). Justice Ogunmoye will assume his new role effective from November 5, 2024.

Mr. Yinka Oyebode, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, confirmed Ogunmoye’s appointment in a statement issued on Wednesday, noting that the move aims to ensure seamless judicial operations in the state following the unfortunate loss.

Born on November 6, 1963, Justice Ogunmoye was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987 and elevated to the bench as a judge on April 1, 2010.

Governor Oyebanji expressed his confidence in Ogunmoye’s ability to lead the judiciary and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure.
