Eid-El-Fitr: FG Extends Public Holiday To Thursday

The Federal Government has prolonged the public holiday for the Eid-El-Fitr celebration until Thursday.

Initially, a two-day holiday – Tuesday and Wednesday – was declared for the festivities.

However, since the crescent was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, signaling that Eid celebration would be on Wednesday, the Federal Government decided to extend the public holiday by one more day.

In an announcement made on Tuesday, the Ministry of Interior Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, stated, “The Federal Government has endorsed Thursday 11th April 2024 as an additional public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid-El-Fitr.”

Furthermore, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Honourable Minister of Interior, conveyed his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah for successfully completing a month of spiritual rejuvenation.

He reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm commitment to ensuring a safe and prosperous Nigeria for everyone.

“The Federal Government has approved Thursday 11th April 2024 as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year’s Eid-El-Fitr,” the Ministry of Interior Permanent Secretary Aishetu Gogo Ndayako said in an early Tuesday statement.

“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo while congratulating the Muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.”
