EGBA CHRISTIAN COUNCIL INSTALLS 32 NEW CHIEFS

It was another milestone on Saturday 7th September, 2019 as Egba Christian Chiefs COUNCIL INSTALLED 32 new Chiefs which comprised of fifteen men and seventeen women at a glamorous ceremony held at the Egba Christian Chiefs Union Central Hall, Itori-Odo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The installation of the new Chiefs occurred under the leadership of Chief J. B. Kokumo JP (Otun Onigbagbo Egba), Chief I. O. Olumide (Bale Onigbagbo Egba), Chief (Mrs) Mariam Kehinde Edun (Iyalode Onigbagbo Egba)Chief Doja Adewolu (Lupona Onigbagbo Egba) and Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson (Otun Iyalode Onigbagbo Egba). 

It was gathered that the installation of the 32 new Christian Chiefs were sworn in by The Rt. Rev. Peter A. Oyero, The Lord Bishop of The African Church, Egba Diocese, Abeokuta and was followed  by oath of office supervised by, Chief Isaac Olumide(Baale Onigbabo Egba) and thereafter Bible passage was read from the book of Psalm 15 and Peter 5:1-11 respectively.

The Chiefs were later individually handed over Bibles as well as the constitution of the Council and they were admonished to uphold the tenet of Christianity and be a good ambassador of Christ as well as that of the Egba Christian Council. 

They were urged the to be up to task ahead of them in their new positions and avoid any act or activities that may make them derail from the religious calls.

Earlier in his sermon, Bishop Peter Oyero who entitled his sermon, ’We are the Light of the World’, stressed that genuine Christians should see themselves as shining light and urged the that the new chiefs should emulate Jesus Christ as the father in faith.

The Cleric pointed out that the Egba Christian Chiefs Council is not for rituals, as believed in by many in the outside world but they should use the calling to serve and uphold the will of God as well as to further propagate God’s work to their communities and world at large and also to see the opportunity to promote peaceful coexistence most especially in this trying time facing the nation.

The newly installed 32 General Chiefs include; Chief Akionla Ade-Adeniji(Jaguna Onigbagbo Egba),Chief Dola Jibowo(Seriki Onigbabo Egba),Chief Ebenezer Wole Abiodun(Bada Onigbagbo Egba),Baale Tunji Falola(Lukotun Onigbagbo Egba),Chief Benjamin Ogunmodede(Asiwaju Ongbagbo Egba),Chief Olufemi Soluade(Aare Onakakanfo Onigbagbo Egba),Chief  Abiola Popoola(Agbaakin Onigbagbo Egba and Chief Banji Ogun Tayo (Akinrogun Onigbagbo Egba), Chief Idowu Oyebola(Ogboye Onigbagbo Egba), Chief Michael Tinuoso(Laderin Onigbagbo Egba), Chief J.O Oguntayo(Lerogun Onigbagbo Egba),Chief Adewale Oshunmakinde(Jagunmolu Onigbagbo Egba),Chief Ayodele Koleade(Aare Ago Onigbagbo Egba,Chief Matemi Ogunmokun(Akingboye Onigbagbo Egba),Chief(Dr) S.O.T Jiboku(Akinlegun Onigbagbo Egba) and Chief(Mrs) D.M Oluwunmi(Baale Obirin Onigbagbo Egba)
