The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 reiterated that the Commission will continue to work towards the recovery of Nigeria’s stolen assets.

The Acting chairman stated this when he received members of the Nigerian Society of International Law, Edo State Chapter who paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Office of the Commission.

Magu who was represented by the Zonal Head, Muhtar Bello, said it was imperative that all hands are on deck to recover our commonwealth stolen by some corrupt Nigerians as the anti-graft agency cannot do it alone.

“Recently, we had a Road Walk to commemorate African Anti- Corruption Day which was on recovery of our stolen assets. Since your association has international dimensions, we can collaborate in this regard”.

He said the Commission will explore other areas of collaboration with the association. “Sometimes, when we start investigation and discover that there are links with foreign countries, we contact those countries for assistance and I believe your association will be of assistance too” he said.

Magu also told the visitors that the Commission will continue to do its best to rid the society of economic and financial crimes.

“We will continue to crackdown on fraudsters because of the damage they do to our economy”.

Earlier, Patrick Isiekwene, chairman of the Association said their visit was to explore ways of collaborating with the Commission in the fight against corruption. “We deem it fit to visit your office to familiarize ourselves with you and to assist you when necessary via information and other best global practice, “he stated.

Hector Ehiaguina, the Association’s Public Relations Officer in his vote of thanks, commended the efforts of the Commission in the fight against corruption. “The fight against corruption is not a fight that should be kept low, it is a fight that should involve all Nigerians,” he said.
