EFCC Arrests 21 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Yola

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 21 suspected internet fraudsters in Yola, Adamawa State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in Abuja.

Oyewale stated that operatives from the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the EFCC arrested the suspects on September 24, 2024, at various locations around Moddibo Adamawa University, Yola.

“The operation was carried out at different points around the university, leading to the arrest of 21 individuals involved in suspected internet fraud activities,” he said.

He further revealed that items recovered from the suspects included 13 iPhones, 12 Android phones, one laptop, and one tablet. “These devices, which were found in the possession of the suspects, will be thoroughly examined as part of our investigation,” Oyewale added.

According to the spokesperson, the suspects are expected to face charges in court soon. “The suspects will be arraigned as soon as investigations are concluded, and the case will be presented to the court for prosecution,” he stated.
