Democratic Forum Enrols 27 Youths For Entrepreneurship Training In Abeokuta

Democratic Forum, an independent political group has on Monday at the group’s weekly meeting enrolled unskilled youths for entrepreneurship training in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The flags-off training of the initiative saw 27 unskilled youths enrolled for Basic training in various skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, Auxiliary Nursing, barbing, makeover, among others.

Speaking during the flag-off, the group’s Coordinator, Okunowo Olamide Afolasade noted that the training was designed to expose beneficiaries to various basic and advanced skills that would help in improving their socio-economic status.

She said, “The 27 beneficiaries will be trained in various skills which include; tailoring, hairdressing, barbing, makeover, auxiliary nursing, among others”.

“Similarly, we have also enrolled other beneficiaries for coaching so as to enable them excel in their academic pursuits”.

“The main objective of the training is to equip the unskilled youths with requisite technical skills to make them self-reliant in the face of economic downtown”.

“There’s no better time to embark on such a very essential task than now, especially in the present era when white-collar and paid employment is no longer available”.

“When youths are positively engaged, there’ll be a reduction in incidences of crime and delinquency, which are factors inimical to national development efforts”.

“I wish to congratulate the beneficiaries of today and I also encourage them to concentrate during the course of training at their respective locations so as to achieve the desired results”, she added.

Recall that the group through its Foundation recently empowered a petty trader in the state with some products to boost her business which was part of its core mandate to give back to the society and to also alleviate suffering.

Consequently, the group during its meeting also welcomed new members, Mrs. Olufunke Obadimu and Ms. Mufuli Shobayo to its fold.
