Determined to contribute its quota to the State Government’s fight against the raging Coronavirus pandemic, the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board (LSTMB) has donated 500 facemasks to the Lagos State Government through its Medical Warehouse at Lekki on Monday.
The Board Chairman, Prof. Adebukola Oshintelu, presented the facemasks to the Manager of the Medical Warehouse, Mr. Razak Olajide, explaining that the gesture is a demonstration of support to the State Government in its efforts to curtail community transmission of the deadly disease.
Represented by a member of the Board, Prince Olusesi Tajudeen, the Chairman acknowledged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s immense contribution to the fight against COVID-19, stressing that traditional medicine practitioners in Lagos have been charged to ensure constant handwashing, use of sanitisers and physical distancing at the community level in order to stem the spread of the virus.
While stressing that the fight against the deadly disease is being taken seriously by the traditional medicine practitioners because of its devastating effects on human health and the economy, the Chairman implored all members of the public to report any suspicious case(s) to the appropriate authorities.
Prof. Oshintelu opined that adherence to all safety rules and guidelines by all and sundry will enable the world to overcome the pandemic soon.
While receiving the facemasks on behalf of the State Government, the Manager of the Lagos Medical Warehouse, Mr. Razak Olajide expressed appreciation to the Board, assuring that the items will be judiciously used.
He also called on other organisations, bodies and individuals to emulate the Board’s gesture by supporting the State Government’s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19
