The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC), Mr. Lanre Mojola and the General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, have urged Lagosians to continue to comply with the social distancing, basic hygiene practices and restriction on public gathering directives of the State Government in order to stop the spread of the Coronavirus disease in Lagos.
They made the call when the COVID-19 Joint Taskforce on Enforcement of Social Distancing and Public Gatherings paid a courtesy call on the Oloja of Epe, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun recently.
Mojola declared that the joint task force team was in Epe to sensitise and distribute stimulus welfare packages to the community following the lockdown caused by the pandemic.
According to him, social distancing at this period is crucial to flattening the curve and breaking the cycle of transmission of the virus.
He said: “Maintaining social distancing, as well as constant washing of hands with soap and water, regular use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers, cleaning of frequently touched surfaces and self-isolation, are key to ensuring the safety of lives. People should also call for help if symptoms of an acute respiratory infection such as coughing, sneezing, sore throat and difficulty in breathing occur”.
General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr. Dolapo Fasawe noted that the joint task force will continue to enforce order until people understand and appreciate the importance of social distancing and self-isolation to ward off the current global pandemic.
The Oloja of Epe, in his response, expressed his profound gratitude to the State Government and the joint task force team for the kind gesture and pledged the unflinching support of Epe Community to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in combating the pandemic.
As part of the strategies to ensure the non-perishable packages reach beneficiaries, Community Development Leaders in the Wards were involved in the distribution of 5000 packs of foodstuff to indigenes of the community.
