COVID-19: Islamic leaders donate N2.5m to Ogun Govt

The League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun State on Thursday gave the state government a sum of N2.5 million to fight against the spread of Coronavirus.

The Wakeel Muslim for Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Sheikh Iskeel Awwal disclosed this on Thursday while handing over the draft cheque to the state Government.

Shiekh Awwal said, the guesture was to support the government in the fight against the pandemic.

The Islamic leader stated that the Muslims in the state are ready to
cooperate with the government in preventing the spread of Coronavirus.

He said, “we are here to donate N2.5 million to the Ogun state government.

“We commended the government for its outstanding efforts in combating COVID-19.

“We pledge our loyalty to fully cooperate with the government on the fight against coronavirus.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele while receiving the draft cheque promised to be transparent and accountable for every gift and donation the government received in the fight against COVID – 19.

She maintained that the government is doing everything possible to ensure the safety of the people of the state.
