Corps members serving in the Osogbo Local Government Area of the State of Osun, have on Monday presented palliatives to the St. Fatima Motherless and Abandoned Babies Unit in the area.
The palliatives comprise some cartons of noodles, carton of vegetable oil and a bag of rice delivered by the corps members to the Unit in Osogbo.
Accompanied by the Local Government Inspector, Osogbo LGA, Mr. Olatunji Adeniyi, the corps members described the gesture as one of the means to cushion the effects of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the state.
Receiving the palliatives, our lady, Fatima Deleyemi, issued a letter of appreciation while the children sang songs of gratitude to the care givers.
The State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke, upon recieving the report of the good gesture of the corps members, appreciated them for for playing a role in retaining the relevance of the scheme in the state. According to him, the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has played an active role in the fight against the spread and effect of covid-19 in the nation.
“Recall that the scheme had played an active role in the fight against the pandemic in the state. The management, corps members and staff synergized to ensure the government wins the fight against the pandemic through donations of palliatives, prevention materials and sensitisation of the masses through jingles and monitored interviews on the state broadcasting station, OSBC” he said.
