The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Segun Dawodu has called for calm among the youth population in the State despite the Coronavirus pandemic affecting the citizens.
Dawodu acknowledged that the preventive measures introduced by the government to curb the spread of the deadly disease may have affected the youth population, especially those who rely on daily earnings for livelihood.
The Commissioner observed that the present situation calls for the cooperation and involvement of everyone so that the State can quickly overcome the challenges of the pandemic.
He said “we appeal to every youth to adhere to the instructions being given regarding this COVID-19. The lives of our youths are precious to us, and we are doing everything possible as a State to ensure the safety of everyone”.
“We need the youths to support the government through total compliance. We need the youth to sacrifice immediate pleasure in order to save the nation from a bigger calamity”, Dawodu added.
While encouraging the youths to keep the spirit of Lagos alive by being strong, even in the face of difficulties and adversities, the Commissioner asserted that the government is making concerted efforts to restore normalcy in the State.
He gave an assurance that the government will continue to execute projects to make life more meaningful, emphasising that youths have a vital role to play in the implementation of government’s programmes.
