Covid-19: Abeokuta Sports Club Donates Food Items To Orphanage, Others

As part of measure towards complementing Ogun State government and other public spirited individuals’ efforts at mitigating the impact of lockdown on residents of the state, particularly the less priviledge, Abeokuta Sports Club has donated food items, Cash and face masks to orphanages, aged and widows homes within Abeokuta metropolis.

The club’s gesture according to the President of the Club, Deacon Bolarinwa Atilade in a statement signed by the Social and Publicity Secretary, Hon. Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo indicated that the donation was part of the club’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme at ensuring the welfare of the less priviledge and vulnerable in the society following the stay-at-home directive by the Federal Government.

According to Atilade, “the leadership of the club in conjunction with the Vice-Patrons of the club found it expedient at hard time like this to put smile on the faces of indigents, while mitigating the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown on the identified recipients”.

The President admonished them to strictly adhere to government’s directive at containing the spread of the pandemic while ensuring personal hygiene in the society.

Receiving the gift items, the Head Aunty, Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home, Abeokuta, Mrs Abdulraman Lateefat, Coordinator, Fajol Widow’s Home, Abeokuta. Mrs Kate Jolaosho and Mr John Ojuawo of Leper’s Colony. Iberekodo described the donation as a rare gesture and selfless giving which they noted would improve the living standard of the beneficiaries.

Receiving the club’s donation to the Alake of Egba land’s palace, Chief Lai Labode lauded the leadership of the club for deeming it fit to identity with the downtrodden, with a task to other flagship clubs and well meaning individuals within the state to emulate the good deeds of Abeokuta Sports Club.

The club also extended the donation to the Juvenile Correctional Home, Asero and two other private orphanage homes.
