A heartbreaking incident has shaken the Angwan Juma’a, Zaria, community in Kaduna State, where a six-year-old girl, Aisha Saidu, was abducted and brutally murdered by her own cousin, Abdulazeez Idris.

According to the Kaduna State Police Command, Aisha’s father, Saidu Dahiru, reported her missing on February 12 after she failed to return from Islamiyya school. A ransom demand of N8 million was made by the abductor, who was later identified as Abdulazeez.

Hassan said, “On February 12, at about 100hrs, Mr. Saidu Dahiru, father of the victim and a resident of Angwan Juma’a, Zaria, reported to the Zaria City Police Station that his daughter, Aisha Saidu, a six-year-old female, went missing on her way to Islamiyya school.

“According to Mr. Dahiru’s, Aisha was allegedly abducted by her cousin’s brother, Abdulazeez Idris, also residing in Angwan Juma’a, Zaria.”

“The case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Kaduna, where they traced and arrested the perpetrator, identified as Abdulazeez Idris, in Makarfi Local Government,” said ASP Mansir Hassan, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).

The suspect confessed to the heinous crime, admitting that he killed Aisha by slitting her throat with a razor blade because she recognized him, and then disposing of her body in a well.

“The suspect confessed to slaying the innocent child by brutally slashing her neck with a razor blade on the account that she recognised him, and then went on to dispose her lifeless body in a well,” said Hassan.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ali Dabigi, has vowed to ensure that justice is served for Aisha and her grieving family. “The suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed,” he said.
