Court Sentences Four Kidnappers to 30 Years Imprisonment

A state High court sitting in Sokoto has sentenced four persons to thirty years each in prison for kidnapping two, a male and a female.

The presiding judge, Hon Justice Malami Umar Dogondaji , on delivering the judgement of High court 3, said the convicts were sentenced to ten years each for conspiracy and twenty years each for kidnapping, adding that the jail terms are to run concurrently.

The judge explained that their crimes were contrary to sections 248(1) and 247(A and B) of the penal code.

The convicts are Altine Alhaji Majo, Aliyu Altine, Abdullahi Ladan, and Bello Ladan who conspired and kidnapped one Alhaji Shehu Hantsi and Safiya Garba both from Rabah Local Government area of Sokoto state.

The convicts had received a ransom of one million fifty thousand naira and three hundred thousand naira respectively.

The suite was filled on 19/3/2020.

Muhammed Bello, one of the five suspects, was discharged and acquitted by the court.
