Members of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Ogun State Chapter have been tasked to contribute their quota in the drive to generate more revenue for the state to enable government deliver more on its electoral promises
The Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) Mr Olugbenga Olaleye said this while playing host to the Executive Members of the Association who paid a courtesy visit to his office at OGIRS HQ. in Abeokuta
Olaleye said, when everyone take ownership of the state, shun individual gain and think about ways to generate more revenue for the government by harnessing other revenue potentials, and pay appropriate taxes, there would be enough resources to provide more for the citizens
“I want to charge you to challenge your members to think, talk about the state in all they do and not just after personal gains that is capable of destroying the future. Ogun state is just scratching the surface, we have not access 50 per cent revenue capability of Ogun State” he said
Earlier, the Chairman ASCSN Ogun State Chapter, Comrade Olude Isa Owolabi lauded the achievements of the agency, especially being the first state to be recorded high in IGR drive among other states in Accountability Index
Olude appealed that, the drive to increase the state IGR should be increased for the new wage demand that would soon be presented to the State government to receive positive response as nothing could be done without revenue
In a vote of thanks, the ASCSN Secretary, Comrade Adebiyi Olusegun appreciated the warm reception by the OGIRS Chairman and pledged a more robust working relationship and the readiness of every member to give their best in the course of building the state together
