Commuters plying Ijebu-Ode – Epe Road have berated the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun for outrightly abandoning the road to the detriment of users of the road.

The road which is the only road connecting Epe and Ijebu-Ode has in the very recent past, witnessed massive deterioration, causing commuters several hours traveling on the road.

Some of the commuters plying the road, told our correspondent who visited the road recently that many hours are wasted on the road because of the deplorable situation of the road.

“We are even robbed sometimes here”, one of the drivers plying the road told our correspondent.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has welcomed the African Finance Corporation (AFC), a Public-Private Partnership plan to repair the Atan-Agbara and Ijebu-Ode-Epe roads.

Receiving in his office in Abeokuta, a four-man team from the Corporation, who were on a courtesy visit to make their intention known, Prince Abiodun commended its decision to partner the State government in rehabilitating the dilapidated roads.

He disclosed his government’s readiness to make roads in the State motorable, saying once the roads are fixed, the volume of traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan express way would be reduced.

“I am happy you have mentioned Agbara, which is the biggest industrial hub in the country and the state of road in the area is totally unbelievable. It is bad and I am glad the road is of interest to you. This is a credible offer coming from the African Finance Corporation.

‘’Also, the Ijebu-Ode-Epe road that is an alternative to the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, the two roads are of concern to us and once these roads are reconstructed, it will ease the volume of traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, that has been taken over by the population explosion in that corridor, so, we welcome this partnership’’, he said.
