Residents of Shomefun street, Ijehun Titun in Abeokuta South Local Government area of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, were left in shock this Friday over a suicide allegedly committed by a commercial motorcyclist identified as Azeez Sanusi in his rented house.

The sad event, which occurred on Friday evening, threw the community into tragedy as they were still discussing what might have led the man to have committed suicide.

Some residents claimed they saw the deceased hours before he took his life did not leave a suicide note or told any of his neighbors or friends about his plan to commit suicide.

Meanwhile an eyewitness, who spoke to Tropic Reporters correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said Azeez was a commercial motorcyclist. “He has a child, but his wife was not living with him till the incident happened. Azeez was a middle-aged man living here with other occupants, he was an addicted smoker and drinks alcohol”.

“All we know was that few months ago he lost a motorcycle he purchased on installment because he could not pay up the money as expected. He has not been doing anything since he lost the Motorcycle, but it was a surprise when an alarm was raised about his death at about 5pm when saw him dangling from the ceiling of the house”.

A landlord in the area told our correspondent that the incident had been reported at the Ibara police station.

Some elders were seen having a meeting on how to perform some traditional rites to appease the gods.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi was contacted for confirmation of the incident, but could not respond properly to phone call due to busy schedule and message sent to his phone as at press time.
