The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has taken a significant step towards enhancing financial inclusion and combating fraud with the launch of a Dedicated Centre for Bulk Registration of PoS Operators.
The centre, located at the Commission’s FCT Zone 5 Office, was unveiled by the Registrar-General/CEO, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, today.
Speaking at the launch, Ishaq Magaji emphasized the centre’s state-of-the-art equipment and personnel, designed to handle applications efficiently and expeditiously, 24 hours a day.
He reiterated the commission’s commitment to ensuring compliance with the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s guidelines for Agent Banking.
The Registrar-General stressed that the centre aims to facilitate requests from fintech operators who voluntarily register their agents and merchants with the CAC.
He highlighted the importance of financial inclusion for the youth and the need to strengthen the fight against fraud and financial crimes, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision.
During the event, the Registrar-General engaged with media outlets, answering questions and inspecting the centre’s facilities.
Dignitaries in attendance included Tokoni Igoin Peter, Special Adviser to the President on ICT Development and Innovation, and Dr. Salihu Dasuki, Special Adviser to the President on ICT Policy in the Office of the Vice President.
