Bearing any last minute change of plan, President Muhammadu Buhari will next month pay another working visit to Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital to commission about 20 multi million naira projects at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu disclosed this on Friday in Abeokuta at a reception held in his honour as part of activities marking his three years in office.
Musa-Olomu said the presidency has indicated willingness to be in Abeokuta in August this year to commission the projects.
He, however said, the hospital board has named the newly built Telemedicine and Multi-purpose hall in the centre after President Muhammadu Buhari.
The FMC MD, who eulogised President Buhari for his fight against corruption and due diligence in the appointment of capable people on merit into federal agencies, promised to transform the health institution to international standard.
He added that naming the project after the president was part of moves to immortalise him and commend him for approving the hospital request at all times.
Musa-Olomu equally noted that, other notable Nigerians such as the former NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr. Ade Abolurin, former Minister of Health, Dr. Isaac Adewole and the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo would be honoured.
He said, “many of the projects are named after some personalities who have contributed in no small measures to the development of this centre.
“This gesture is to immortalize them and commend them for their efforts to ensure we remain the best federal hospital in the country.
“We want to sincerely thank President Muhammadu Buhari for his assistance all the time and granting our requests at every point in time. It is in this wise, the board has approved to name the newly constructed Telemedicine and Multi-purpose hall after Mr. President to immortalise him.
“We cannot undermine the effort of the former Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ade Abolurin at ensuring peace among our unions in the centre, it is on this note the board approved the newly constructed ultra modern Gymnasium Building complex which is the first in any government hospital in Nigeria to be named after Dr. Abolurin.”
Prof. Musa-Olomu however said upon completion, the new pharmacy building complex would be named after the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo for his support and prayer for the hospital.
