Breaking: Ogun Assembly Reelect Oluomo As Speaker

Hon Taiwo Olakunle Olumo, member representing Ifo I State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly has been reelected, unopposed as the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly.

 

Oluomo who is being tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for an alleged financial misappropriation, was elected after an intriguing session on Tuesday.

 

Oluomo who was nominated by a member from Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency, Lamidi Olatunji had no counter nomination.

 

A member from Yewa South State Constituency, Litifat Ajayi was also elected as the Deputy Speaker in the same manner with Oluomo.

 

Ajayi wqs nominated by Oluwayemisi Bakare of Ijebu Ode State constituency with the nomination seconded by Olusegun Odunuga from Ijebu North II State constituency.

 

The atmosphere was tensioned soaked as the sitting which was earlier billed to start by 10am couldn’t start until some minutes to 2pm.

 

Our reporter gatheted that several meetings and negotiations were held within the period, which later resulted in Oluomo’s unopposed reelection.

 

Oludaisi Elemide, a member representing Odeda State Constituency, was in the race for the speakers hip position until the last minutes.
