In a significant ruling, the Federal High Court in Abuja has declared the impeachment of Philip Shaibu as Edo State’s Deputy Governor null and void.

Justice James Omotosho’s judgment reinstates Shaibu to his former position, citing violations of the Constitution by the Edo State House of Assembly.

The court’s decision also mandates the payment of Shaibu’s salaries and allowances, withheld since his impeachment in April.

However, the Edo Assembly has initiated an appeal and sought a stay of execution, signaling a prolonged legal battle.
