Breaking: Barcelona Confirms Messi Departure from the Club

The Spanish giant, Barcelona football club has disclosed the parting way of one of its prolific player, Leonel Messi.

The football legend was born and raised in central Argentina, but his family later relocated to Spain and join Barcelona at age of 13. He began playing for FC Barcelona under-14 team and was later promoted to the main club at the age of 16 due to his higher level of playing.

In an official statement released on the club’s social media accounts, it was revealed that the six times Ballons d’Or winner has departed from the club.

The statement reads: “Leo Messi not staying at FC Barcelona despite club and player reaching an agreement and their clear intention to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles facing the club.”

“As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled. FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.” The statement added.

The Argentine was the duo captain of his national team, Argentina and FC Barcelona. He recently won the South American’s Copa America cup for his country for the first time.

Leo Messi contract expired with the la Liga club on the 31st of June but he didn’t sign a new contract for the club. His next destination is now a topic for discussion amongst football lovers.
