The Lagos State Police Command has detained a bouncer, Kingsley Oti, for allegedly stabbing a man to death in the Okota area of Lagos.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday at 3:30 p.m. along Ago-Palace Way, following an altercation at a club.
Confirming the incident on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, informed journalists that the club’s manager reported the case to the Ago-Okota Police Division.
According to Hundeyin, the victim, who is yet to be identified but is suspected to be a hoodlum, was involved in a confrontation with the bouncer in the club’s car park, which led to his stabbing.
“The manager of a club and lounge reported at Ago-Okota Division that a yet-to-be-identified adult male, suspected to be a hoodlum, was allegedly stabbed by the club’s bouncer during an altercation between them at the club’s car park. In the process, he became unconscious,” Hundeyin stated.
The injured man was quickly rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Mushin, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
Upon receiving the report, police officers from the Ago-Okota Division promptly arrived at the scene, apprehending the suspect and launching an investigation. “Based on the report, the scene was visited by a team of detectives from the division”.
“The hospital has been visited where the corpse was inspected, and photographs have been taken. The corpse has been removed and deposited at Mainland General Hospital Morgue, Yaba, for autopsy,” Hundeyin added.
