The 2024 SWAN Media Cup, tagged SWAN/Oluwalogbon Electronics Media Cup, has reached its final stage.
Defending champions Splash FM defeated OGTV 3-1 in a penalty shootout after a stalemate, despite OGTV’s failed scoring chances in the first half.
Splash FM, who qualified as best losers in the group stage, struggled to beat Eagle FM 1-0 in the quarterfinals and OGTV, who beat Fresh FM 3-2.
Family FM continued their impressive run, edging out Fresh FM 6-2 on aggregate and Ogun State Information Officers 3-1 in the quarterfinals.
They proved their superiority over Consolidated Chapel of Ogun NUJ with a 2-0 win in the semifinals, setting up the final with Splash FM on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the MKO Abiola International Stadium.
SWAN Chairman, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, commended participating media stations for their support and teamwork, urging finalists to display good football and play safe.
He requested maximum publicity for the final ceremony, which will be graced by dignitaries including Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Hon. Lukmon Adeleye, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, Barr. Dip Ogunfowora, Hon. Adeshina Ogunsola, and Dr. Folashade Adeyemo.
The final ceremony promises to be an exciting event, with the Commissioner for Sports Development in the state, the Special Adviser to the Governor on information and strategy, and the Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly in attendance.
Other dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include the Head of Service in Ogun state, the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Service matters, and the Chairmen of Obafemi-Owode and Odeda local governments.
