The Council of student union presidents has called for the sack of the ministers of Education and Labour, Adamu Adamu and Chris Ngige for failing to resolve the ongoing ASUU Strike.

The union threatened to mobilise students across the country to occupy major streets in the country until the prolonged strike is called off.

Nigerian students have found themselves at the receiving end of the continuous strike embarked on by the academic staff union of universities over unresolved issues with the federal government since 2009.

The prolonged strike has caused untold hardships for both students and their parents due to the uncertainty of the academic calendar.

If eventually, ASUU members get some of their demands met and return to classes, they are soon out back on strike, leaving the students to pick up the pieces of their lives with great difficulty.

The council of student union presidents which comprises all student union presidents across federal universities in Nigeria are not taking this lightly and has given the government a time frame to resolve the issue or have Nigerian students on major streets of the nation’s capital.

Many people have asserted that Nigerian graduates are unemployed, despite the fact that students are in and out of school due to the ongoing Asuu Strike.

Recall that President had ordered the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, to hand off negotiations with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Buhari gave the directive during a briefing by the heads of the various concerned ministries, departments and agencies of government on Tuesday in Abuja. He also approved the suggestion of the minister of education, Adamu Adamu to take over the negotiations.
