Ashiru Takes Over As Senate Deputy Leader, Replacing Umahi

On Wednesday, the Senate named Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress, representing Kwara South, as the new Deputy Leader of the Senate.

Additionally, Senator Nwebonyi Onyeka was appointed as the new Deputy Chief Whip.

These appointments were formally announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the plenary session.

Ashiru, who previously held the position of Deputy Chief Whip, was promoted to the role of Deputy Leader of the Senate, which became vacant due to the appointment of Senator Dave Umahi as the Minister of Works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
