A former Argentine national lawmaker received a one-month suspended prison sentence for causing disruption in the exercise of his duties after he kissed his partner’s breast during a parliamentary session held via videoconference, as reported by local media.

Juan Ameri, who was subsequently suspended and resigned from parliament, was captured in a viral video fondling a woman on his lap, exposing her breast, and kissing it while another lawmaker was speaking. The incident occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic when participants were attending remotely.

Ameri claimed he didn’t realize he was connected to the internet at the time due to poor connectivity in his area. He explained that his partner had recently undergone surgery and he kissed her implants as she came out of the bathroom.

According to Argentine media citing judicial sources, the court found that Ameri was aware his actions could be seen by fellow representatives and viewers of the live broadcast.

“The media destroyed me and I suffered greatly. I even thought about ending my life in a hundred different ways,” Ameri told La Nacion newspaper, expressing his intention to appeal the court’s decision.

Currently, Ameri lives a private life, selling poultry products away from public attention.
