Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed strong confidence that candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming local government elections will secure a decisive victory.

Speaking at a meeting on Friday with 20 APC chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates, 236 councilorship hopefuls, and the state’s 20 local government APC chairmen, Abiodun encouraged all candidates to approach the election united and ensure a resounding win for the party.

According to Abiodun, the APC administration’s dedication to fulfilling campaign promises gives the party a clear advantage.

He noted that the state government has effectively brought development and governance closer to the people, democratizing access to infrastructure and services. “Our track record speaks for itself,” he asserted, adding that no community across Ogun has been left out.

“The people of Ogun know the difference we have made,” Abiodun said, emphasizing that citizens have seen tangible benefits in peace and stability across the state.

He urged the candidates to maintain harmony within the party and reconcile with any past challengers to prevent divisions during the campaign. “It is important that there is perfect harmony in each local government,” he stated.

The governor explained that the selection of candidates was thorough, aimed at ensuring only the best-suited individuals represent the party in the local government election. “None of you emerged by accident,” he said. “I am taking this election very seriously. We want leaders in each local government who understand our vision and the needs of their communities.”

Abiodun encouraged candidates to fully embody the administration’s ‘ISEYA’ mantra and ensure that campaign messaging remains consistent across all local governments.

He also shared that his administration would soon launch major projects, including the groundbreaking for a deep-sea port, a naval base, and a dockyard in Ogun Waterside Local Government area.

Highlighting the administration’s accomplishments, he shared that more than 700 kilometers of road and over 4,000 housing units have been constructed across the state, while over 120 Primary Health Care Centers and 1,000 classrooms have been rehabilitated.

Abiodun acknowledged the difficult economic climate but stressed that recent federal policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would ultimately benefit the country. Measures such as selling rice to public servants and pensioners at a discounted rate of N40,000 are aimed at easing current hardships, he added.

In his opening remarks, APC State Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi reinforced the importance of a strong campaign, calling on the candidates to go all out and secure victory, ensuring APC’s sustained influence in Ogun State.
