In a violent attack on Dan Auta village, Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, suspected terrorists killed two people, including a security operative, and abducted 13 others in the early hours of Friday.

The attack, which occurred around 2 a.m., claimed the life of a Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) member, while another victim was shot dead after resisting abduction. Thirteen others, including women, children, and the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area, Alhaji Imamu, were abducted.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers came in large numbers, riding motorcycles and armed with automatic weapons. Despite resistance from the KSCWC and local vigilante groups, the attackers overwhelmed the local security forces due to their numbers and firepower.

“A member of the KSCWC lost his life while bravely defending the village,” a witness said. “Another man was shot when he tried to resist being taken.”

Several residents sustained injuries and were taken to the local primary healthcare center for treatment.

This incident adds to the growing insecurity in Katsina State, which, like other parts of Nigeria’s North-West region, has been plagued by repeated attacks from terrorists, kidnappers, and cattle rustlers. The criminals often take advantage of the dense forests in the area as hideouts.
