President Bola Tinubu officially welcomed former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Anyim, who previously served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation under President Goodluck Jonathan, recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC.
Anyim was presented to President Tinubu by a delegation led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru.
During the meeting, Anyim expressed his commitment to Nigeria’s progress, emphasizing the need for collective effort to move the country forward.
This development follows Anyim’s formal defection announcement on July 13, 2024, when he led a large contingent of supporters, including prominent individuals from various parties, into the APC fold during the party’s Local Government Area election campaign finale in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The APC leadership, including National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Governors Uzodimma and Nwifuru, Minister of Works David Umahi, and State Chairman Stanley Emegha, have welcomed Anyim and the new members into the party, marking a significant boost for the APC.
