Anthony Joshua, the Nigerian-British boxer, has confirmed that his next fight will take place on September 20 or 21 at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.
This announcement comes after his impressive knockout victory over Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia earlier this year.
Joshua revealed that his next opponent will be selected from the winners of the Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn 5 vs 5 night on June 1, featuring Deontay Wilder vs Zhilei Zhang and Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic in Riyadh.
The Saudi Arabian promoter, Turki Al-Sheikh, has expressed his desire for Joshua to face the most impressive winner from this card, with the goal of creating a legacy fight that will be remembered for years to come.
Joshua expressed his enthusiasm for this approach, stating, “What he says is: ‘In the future, I want people to look back at your record and say that you took on the best.’ I said: ‘Now you’re speaking my language.'”
While a highly anticipated fight against Tyson Fury is still in the works, Joshua’s next bout will feature one of the top contenders from the June 1 card.
