Anambra 2021: Why no one can take the place of Ifeanyi Ubah from the Youths

    Reading time: 3 Minutes

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), eighteen Political parties will be contesting the November 6 Anambra State Governorship Election. Anambrarians are looking forward to elect a Candidate who has before joining politics or the contest, proven to have the interests of the people at heart. Ndị Anambra are also expecting a leader who will always empower the youth and expose them to the realities of life. The expectations of ndị Anambra may not be unconnected with total negligence of the youths by various administrations especially the present one led by the Chief Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Following ndị Anambra’s bad experiences in the past and present administration in the state, it will no longer be business as usual. The forthcoming election will no longer be a period of imposing a Candidate who has no track record of human capital development on the people. Anybody that declared interest in governing the state must be able to show ndị Anambra how he or she has been able to promote talents in his or her community as a private citizen.

It is not surprising that among the four major political parties contesting the election, only the Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has a clear track record of Youth Empowerment and Human Capital Development. This is because while others see government position as the only avenue to serve the people, the YPP Candidate has always seen betterment of humanity as part of his life obligations. Before joining politics, Senator Ubah has uplifted the lives of many young people. He achieved this by exposing them to the realities of life which indeed, have helped them in making proper use of their talents.

The major thing that makes the YPP Candidate unique is that majority of Aides and supporters of other Candidates especially those of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have benefitted immensely from his benovelence. It will be difficult to see an Aide of the present APGA government or other major opposition parties in the State that has not been exposed to the realities of present world by Ifeanyi Ubah. Majority of those exposures were achieved through international trips single handedly sponsored by the YPP Candidate to enable them acquire both physical and practical knowledge from various intellectuals, personalities and cities around the world, and such helped them heavily in fulfilling their various life visions. Some of the trips sponsored for those youths by Senator Ubah include China where they attended Canton Fair, Dubai where they attended a Trade Fair, an International Economic Summit at Istanbul, Turkey where they had one on one interaction with officials of Embassy of Nigeria in Turkey, Turkish Industrialists and Economic Experts. Other lifetime experiences of the youths which were single handedly sponsored by the YPP Candidate include trips to Russia and Brazil where they watched the World Cup competition live, United Kingdom where they visited Westham Football Club and also watched their matches live, and Egypt where they watched the African Nations Cup competitions live.

Interestingly, beneficiaries of the above benevolence of Senator Ubah all attested to the fact that their lives were indeed greatly impacted positively by the YPP Candidate. Some of the beneficiaries who are presently in a contract with APGA and other major political parties also said after the trips that their lives indeed witnessed a massive uplift that they never imagined but sadly, their present political contractors have been unable to build on those gains to enable them attain greater heights and that makes it difficult for one to see those parties as true friends of the youths.

Ndị Anambra, don’t be deceived by baseless claims of politicians, tell anyone who said he means well for us to show you what he has done in the past to develop young talents starting with people around him. Ụmụ nnem, matakwa nụ na nke anyị nụrụ na ntị bụ okwu asị mana nke anyị hụrụ n’anya bụ ezi okwu. If anyone approaches you to gain your vote, sị ya gosị ife omegoru ka ịfụ n’ anya.

Thank God for blessing our dear State with somebody like Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, a man who does not only give his people fish but teaches them how to fish. Bikonụ ụmụ nnem, let us all secure our Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to consolidate our love for him on November 6. Indeed a new Anambra is possible.
