Alhaji Olaleye Emerges Ogun Chamber’s 18th President

The Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) has inaugurated new executives led by Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye to pilot the affairs of the chambers for next two years.

Alhaji Wasiu Babatunde Olaleye who was born about 50 years ago in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He attended Lisabi Primary School after which he proceeded to St. John’s Anglican High School, Kuto, Abeokuta. He had a deploma in Business Administration from City of London College, United Kingdom and also graduated from National Open University of Nigeria.

Alhaji Olaleye is also an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Mediator and Conciliator.

Alhaji Olaleye began his journey in the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce as Treasurer in 2012 till 2014.

Consequently, Alhaji Olaleye became the Second Deputy President from 2016 to 2018 and rose to the position of the Chamber’s First Deputy President in 2018.

The inauguration of Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye as well as other Executive members of the Chamber was held yesterday Thursday 23rd July, 2020 at the Moshood Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta the Ogun State capital in compliance with Covid-19 government’s directives.

In the acceptance speech of the newly invested President, Alhaji Olaleye said the Chamber has been luck since inception to be blessed with good Leadership who have distinguished themselves and have made good imprints towards the upliftment of the noble organization.

Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye who was invested as the 18th President of the Chamber said, “I will like to commend the relentless efforts of our immediate past president, Adele-Oba Kolawole Lawal and other officers who directed the affairs of the Chamber in the last two years”

“There is no doubt that his tenure has also raised the bar of the Chamber’s progress. With the grace and benevolence of Almighty God, I have succeeded Adele-Oba Kolawole Lawal as the new President of Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, the position that would be held for the next two years”

“By the grace of God and the assured support of other officers and members of the Chambers, we shall do our utmost best to make the new dispensation as productive and eventful as that of my predecessors”, Olaleye assured

“Furthermore, in a bid to commit ourselves to the goals the new administration has envisioned, our focus will be to continue to look inward in order to harness our local resources and encourage the growth of their value chains both locally and on the global scale”

In his keynote address, The Governor of Ogun State who was represented at the epoch making event by the Honourable Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs Kikelomo Longe said Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture has remained an exceptional organization towards improving business activities within the related sectors of economy in the state.

The Governor said over 3,000 corporate members across the state, accounting on estimated 60% industrial output and 65% of general commence and about 25% of financial services in the state in particular and Nigeria as a whole, the chambers have continued to wax stronger.

“OGUNCCIMA have continue to exemplary in the important areas of employment generation, poverty alleviation, and above all food security. Over the past decades OGUNCCIMA has remain one of the leading voices of the private sector through its sustain public policy advocacy, stakeholders engagement, and trade promotion activities”

“The investors program and many other projects of the chamber are symbolic representation of the commitment of members of this great organization towards sustaining the visions of the founding Father”

“I therefore congratulate the executive committee and entire member of OGUNCCIMA for hosting it’s 36th annual meeting, and investitures of Alhaji AbdulWasiu Babatunde Olaleye as it’s 18th President” he said.

On her part, the Immediate Past President of Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Iyalode Alaba Lawson, MFR appealed to the state government to assist the chamber in its activities, adding that the landed property belonging to the chamber should not be used for an housing estate as being rumoured.

The Iyalode of Yorubaland, who was also a former President of the Chambers in the State, recalled that, the premises were strictly allocated for the chambers over three decades ago, by the then military administration for business operations to strive.
