Aktive Network on behalf of the youths has appreciated the Ogun State Government led by Prince Dapo Abiodun for the efforts in containing Corona virus pandemic in Ogun state.
The was contained in a release made available by Habeeb Whyte Esq.,
Director, Corporate Communications
Aktive Network, Abeokuta, Ogun State and obtained by Tropic Reporters correspondent.
The statement reads, “It is on record that the Ogun State Government in a bid to show how serious and responsible it is towards containing the virus had earlier issued a notice that all gatherings of 50 people and above should not be seen in the State at this period.”
“There have been general obedience to the executive proclamation of the Government and some viral videos have shown how law enforcement officers in the State have been moving about to enforce compliance and disrupt gatherings that violate Government’s directive.”
“However, it is rather unfortunate that Bishop Oyedepo of Winners Chapel held a church service that had more than 50 people at the Church auditorium in Otta and the Government did nothing about it. Is Bishop Oyedepo bigger than Ogun State Government? Why haven’t the State government order the closure of the religious facility? After all, churches and mosques don’t pay tax and they are not above the law.”
“It will be a show of responsiveness if the Ogun State Government issues a statement over the act of Bishop Oyedepo by calling him to order and issue stern warning that Executive proclamation of necessity are meant to be obeyed and further services should not hold in other worship centres in and around the State.”
“We are also aware that the Executive Council meeting of Ogun state government do have more than 50 members in attendance. It will be responsive and responsible if the Government of Ogun State ensures that NOT more than 50 members must be in attendance as a matter of necessity and the proactive way of containing the virus.”
“We are also aware that most of the appointees of the Government are individuals that resides in Lagos state as they will have to travel down to Abeokuta for meetings and other duties. And as such, proper screening and precautions must be done if AT ALL they must be at the government functions.”
“It is also important for Ogun State government at this point to adopt the Lagos and Ekiti State executive proclamation on civil servants working from home. If not all, at least LEVEL 1 to LEVEL 12.”
“Some Lawmakers of Ogun State House of Assembly were away in UK in the last two weeks for seminar and they have since returned to the State without observing the mandatory 14-days self isolation as prescribed to further prevent the spread of the corona virus. This must be looked into immediately.” He said.
