Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to disregard the version of the new national anthem, “Nigeria We Hail Thee”, being circulated by the National Orientation Agency (NOA).

According to Akpabio, the NOA’s version differs from the one approved and passed by the National Assembly.

Akpabio made this clarification after the Senate’s plenary session, where lawmakers rendered the new anthem.

He urged Nigerians to ignore the NOA’s version and instead adopt the one approved by the National Assembly.

The Senate President encouraged lawmakers to familiarize themselves with the correct lyrics, as it will be the standard practice during Senate plenaries.

The Senate has adjourned until July 2nd for the Sallah break.
