After Seven Years, Nigerian Red Cross Reunites Ifeanyi Precious With Family In Delta

One of the mandates of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) is to reunite families separated by disaster and other situations. Most especially children and unaccompanied minors.

Thus, it was an all-round celebration as the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Delta State Branch(DSB) in collaboration with the Ogun State Branch successfully reunited Ifeanyi Precious to his family after being declared missing since 2015.

Ifeanyi Precious who was taken to Lagos to live with his relative was handed over to the Red Cross orphanage home in Ogun State by the Nigerian Police (NPF) on 7th April 2015, after being found wandering on the street and was unable to identify where he was coming from or going to.

Ifeanyi Precious spent seven and half years with the Nigerian Red Cross and was educated through Primary School to Senior Secondary School level and now preparing for his Senior School Certificate Exams.

The Red Cross commenced the process of reuniting Ifeanyi Precious with his family after he told our team at the orphanage home that he will be able to identify his home and family if taken to Agbor in Delta State.

The Ogun Branch team, led by the Acting BS, Tr. Fasoranti Bayo communicated this development to Delta Branch and arrived Agbor on Monday 10th October, 2022. The team was received by the Branch Secretary, ably represented by the Branch DMO, Tr. Felix Orhe.

After a long search, the team was able to locate and identity the home and parents of Ifeanyi Precious and his entire family on the 10th October 2022.

It was an all round celebration as family members, friends, community members, the entire Ika South LGC and people from all walks of life, both young and elderly celebrated ,gave praises to the Almighty God and thanked the Nigerian Red Cross Society for bringing back their Son who had been lost for eight years.

In the process of reuniting Ifeanyi Precious with his family, the Red Cross met with his family, the Nigerian Police (NPF) and the Ika South LGA with a view to documenting his reunion.

In a visit on Tuesday 11th October, 2022 to the Chairman Ika South LGA, Hon. Sunday Tataobuzogwu, An Associate Member of the Society, the Council Boss welcomed the Red Cross Society and the family of Mr & Mrs Imafidon Ifeanyi to his office and thanked the Society for the wonderful job they are doing and for restoring joy to the Imafidon Ifeanyi family and the entire Ika South LGA.

He noted that such things can only be seen most times in Movies.

In support of Ifeanyi Precious, Mr & Mrs Imafidon Ifeanyi, the Red Cross orphanage home in Ogun State and the Nigerian Red Cross Society Delta State Branch, the Council Chairman Hon. Sunny Tataobuzogwu on behalf of the Ika South LGA made a donation of Seven Hundred Thousand (700,000) Naira.

Ifeanyi Precious was officially handed over to the family of Mr & Mrs Imafidon Ifeanyi through the Ika South Council Boss.

Precious parents decided he returns to the orphanage to complete his Senior School Certificate Exams before finally returning home. This will be after spending one week with them.

The Ogun team has since departed Delta State to share the good news with thier Branch.
