AFCON 2023: Ivory Coast to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in final

Date:

Reading time: 0 Minute

The hosts qualified thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over DR Congo in the second semi-final on Wednesday night.

There were no goals in the first half. But Sebastien Haller’s scruffy finish in the second half was enough to send the Elephants through.

They will now face the Super Eagles for the trophy on Sunday.

Nigeria needed penalties to see off South Africa in their semi-final clash earlier in the game.

The match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes and Stanley Nwabali produced two saves during the shoot-out to send the three-time African champions through.

Sunday’s final is a repeat of a Group A fixture in the competition, which Nigeria won 1-0, thanks to William Troost-Ekong’s penalty.
