Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Mr. Emmanuel Adebisi, over allegations of diverting 70 bags of rice. The civil society coalition in the state, through its Secretary, Mr. Olowu Emmanuel, claimed that the rice intended for them was never delivered.
Emmanuel stated, “Since the beginning of this administration, nothing meant for civil societies has been delivered, not even palliatives intended to alleviate the suffering of the people of the state.”
The suspension was reportedly due to the diversion of rice collected under the pretense that it would be delivered to the civil society coalition office. However, Adebisi denied the allegations on his verified Facebook page, stating, “The claims suggesting that I have been suspended and removed from a WhatsApp group are categorically false. Any insinuation of my involvement in misconduct, particularly relating to the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice, is entirely baseless.”
Despite his denial, Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the suspension, stating, “The Governor has directed the immediate suspension of Mr. Emmanuel Adebisi, pending the outcome of investigations by the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Mr. Kazeem Akinleye.”
