A support group of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Campaign Organization, (BCO) has commended the resignation of the embattled Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu and National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
The group maintained that the exit of Adamu as the party chairman, would further deepen and entrenched stability, fairness, peace and equity in the party.
BCO gave this commendation in a statement signed by its National Patron, Alhaji Abdulwahab Korede Quardi (FCIB), National Coordinator, QS Mohammed Makinta (FNIQS) and National Women Leader, Alhaja Folashade Tinubu – Ojo, and made available to journalists on Tuesday.
BCO stressed that Adamu’s resignation would also be a great opportunity to ensure power – balancing in the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government and to also assuage the feelings of party members affected by the choice of the former senate leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan as the erstwhile chairman’s consensus candidate as against the position of the party’s National Working Committee and the 11 APC Northern Governors, who endorsed power shift to the south after the President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure, in the run-up to the party’s 2023 presidential primary elections.
“As a group, we are delighted about the resignation of the embattled All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore who emerged as the party’s leaders during the 2022 National Convention of the party”.
“Adamu until his resignation has always maintained a different motives as against the best interest and position of the party, even during the run-up to the 2023 party’s presidential primary elections”.
“Adamu’s choice of Senator Ahmad Lawan as his consensus candidate as against the position of the party’s National Working Committee and 11 APC Northern Governors who endorsed power shift to the South after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure revealed his leadership deficiencies”.
“We are therefore optimistic that his resignation would ensure peace, stability, fairness and equity in the best interest of all party members for national development”, the statement added.
