…assures more dividends of democracy in second term
The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said that he would not allow isolated situations of instances to demoralize or de-motivate his administration from reaching its set goal in the second term.
Abiodun who made this known at the Presidential Lodge during a meeting with members of the Ogun State Community Development Council and the Ogun State Cooperatives Federated Limited, who had come to congratulate him on his victory at the just concluded polls in the state, noted that his administration would continue to ensure that it leaves up to the fulfillment of its electioneering promises.
“That much we have achieved, nobody can take it from us and I will not allow anyone to make me feel demoralized by it because they are legacies that will remain in the sands of time forever.
“Can someone come and say that I did not build an airport or that I did not reconstruct Oba Erinwole Road or others too numerous to mention? That road, the previous administration refused to construct so that a particular individual can actually suffer. Can you imagine an administration refusing to reconstruct a road because it wants to punish a particular individual and by extension punishing a lot of people?
“We will not allow this isolated situation of instances to demoralize us, neither will we allow them to de-motivate us, we will continue to ensure that we leave up to our promises and remain lacer focused so that by the time our tenure is over, the legacies we’ve made will continue to speak for us,” he said.
Abiodun who also added that his administration is poised to remain lacer focused so that at the end of his second term, his legacies, investment made would continue to speak for his eight year tenure, noted that his second term would see his administration focus more on public utilities like water supply and uniterupted power supply.
While noting that plans meant to provide independently powered electricity to major towns and cities, the governor noted that the plans would see electricity from the national grid readily available to smaller towns and villages, adding that the availability of electricity both from independent source and the national grid would help drive the industrial revolution of his administration.
He added that the people in the state would see his administration working assiduously to provide electricity in Abeokuta, Ota, Ijebu-Ode and Sagamu in the first instance, while it would continue to provide road infrastructure with focus more on inner township roads.
Abiodun who added that his administration would also focus more on youth development and job creation like it was done in the past, disclosed that the state would ensure the host of the best National Sports Festival in the history of the festival in the country.
He also noted that the Kajola Dry Port would be implemented in the Kajola Free Trade Zone, pointing out that once the port is completed and ready for use, cargo can be shipped directly to the state, thereby reducing demorhage and creating job opportunities for the people in the state.
On education, the governor said his administration would continue to ensure the state dominance in the education sector, whilst ensuring that schemes like the broiler project where day old chicks were given to some young men and women through some of its partners and the Anchor Borrowers Programme are fully promoted and implemented in the second term.
Abiodun noted that the 7,000 members of the Ogun State Development Council and the Ogun State Cooperatives Federated Limited that has received their letters as Social Investment Assistants would soon begin to receive their remuneration, adding that it is his hope that they would help his administration to reach the grassroots at any point in time his administration plans to intervene and educate the people of the state
In their remarks, the state chairman, Ogun State Cooperatives Federated Limited, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye and his counterpart in the Ogun State Community Development Council; Akogun Lucien Taiwo, who both thanked Governor Abiodun for appointing some of their members as Social Investment Assistants, also commended him for the grants giving to some of the community development associations in the state.
