Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed interest in securing support from the United States Government to enhance development programs aimed at improving the well-being of Ogun residents.

Governor Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, made this appeal during a courtesy visit from the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Richard Mills, at the governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Governor Abiodun highlighted his administration’s significant investments over the past five years, designed to uplift citizens and align with his vision of improved standards of living across the state.

“Our goal since taking office has been to enhance the lives and livelihoods of our people. The policies we’ve implemented have remained consistent in this direction,” he stated.

The governor elaborated on initiatives like the Oko’wo Dapo program, which has empowered approximately 100,000 women financially, underscoring his administration’s commitment to small and medium-sized enterprises as a vital component of the state’s economy.

“While we have substantial investments at the higher end, the economy’s engine room remains the SME sector,” he added.

Additionally, Abiodun cited the administration’s ongoing work to establish sustainable infrastructure, noting its focus on creating a business-friendly environment that has encouraged foreign direct investment.

Facilities like the Agro-cargo Airport and the newly launched dry port are aimed at facilitating export and import activities for local industries, reducing dependence on distant ports.
