Abiodun, Sanwo-Olu, Others Eulogise Late Sen. Durojaye

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, his Lagos State counterpart, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other eminent Nigerians have eulogised late Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, who passed on recently.

Governor Abiodun in his remarks at the memorial evening of worship and tributes in celebration of life of the Otunba of Kolawolu of Ijebu-Igbo, at the Haven hall, Ikeja, Lagos, said the pain of losing the well-respected son of Ogun was a deep one, not only to the State government but the entire country.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Governor said “late Durojaiye was a man everyone looked up to as a father.

He was blessed with wisdom and compassion and played a vital role during this administration’s campaign”.

While thanking God for a life well spent, Abiodun prayed that God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss and grant him eternal rest.

In his remark, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Sanwo-Olu represented by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, saluted the role played in dogged fight for democracy by the deceased and others, which led to his incarceration for over 18months during a military era in the 90s.

Also, a friend of the late Senator, Prof. Ayo Ogunye, said they had been together for 60 years, noting that his brilliancy and excellent academic performance in school inspired him to be more serious and excel academically.

In a related development, the Ogun State Government has paid a condolence visit to the family of late Chief Babatunde Fadun at his Igbesa residence, describing him as a committed and dedicated party man.

Governor Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Salako-Oyedele, said that the patriarch of the Fadun’s family played a key role in his capacity as a member of the Advisory Council of his administration.

“He has lived a fulfilled and exemplary life.

He was a humble and dedicated member of the All Progressive Congress. He was also a man who was passionate about the development of Igbesa land and the State at large”, the Governor said.

Contributing, Commissioner for Forestry, Hon. Tunji Akinosi, sympathised with the family, saying death took him at a time the party needed him most, while thanking God for a well fulfilled life.

Speaking on behalf of the family, son of the deceased, Barrister Hakeem Fadun appreciated the State government for identifying with the family.
