Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABEOCCIMA) has inducted 48 businesses into its business network, urging them to adhere strictly to high ethical standards, integrity, good corporate governance to promote national economic growth with best international business practices.
Mr. Akinola Lawson, the President of ABEOCCIMA, said this today Wednesday 11th December, 2019 during the induction ceremony for new members of the Chamber.
“We should pay adequate attention to the integrity of our business transactions and practices and to promote, protect the business interests of Private Sector Operators and be fair, firm and transparent with customers, suppliers and competitors.
“Indeed, the Chamber movement has a code of business ethics to which all members are to subscribe,” he said.
On his part, while speaking on the theme of the induction tagged “Gains and Benefits of Membership of the Chamber”, the Executive Secretary of the Chamber, Alhaji AbdulRahmon Maku noted that Chamber comprises of individuals and firms from different backgrounds and has over the years utilized and expanded the social capital horizons.
He further observed that the benefits of being members of the Chamber includes; provision of timely business information, business to business engagements, seminars, active participations at trade fairs within and outside the country which would further enhance their efficiency in operations and also targeted at increasing their sales and profits in the nearest future.
While corroborating the Executive Secretary, Sir Jare Oyesola the First Deputy President of the Chamber opined that new members should know their motives in the Chamber as that would drive them to key into the activities of the Chamber for optimum benefits and gains.
Alhaji Tunji Labode, the Patron of ABEOCCIMA commended the Executives for organizing the induction ceremony and equally charged the newly inducted members to always uphold the ABEOCCIMA oath of membership to the best of their abilities.
He therefore pressed the new members to fully take advantage of all the various opportunities made available for them and urged for active roles at all the activities of the Chamber.
Other executives and members present at the epoch making event includes; Otunba A. Babs Adesanya, Alhaja M.A. Kelani Dawood (ABEOCCIMA 2nd Deputy President and Chairman of the Chamber’s Membership Services and Affairs Committee), Alhaji Moruf Popoola and Mrs. Olajumoke Makinde among others.
