ABEOCCIMA Inches Close to Partnering FUNAAB On Multiple Investment In Agriculture

The Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABEOCCIMA) has kicked-start the process of partnering the University to move the institution’s from free range cattle rearing to the more vibrant and virile ranching system, among other areas of mutual interest of development.

ABEOCIMA opened the lid of partnership even as it congratulated Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde on his appointment as the Seventh Substantive Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, describing him as a round peg in a round hole and his appointment as well deserved.

Operating under the aegis of National Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), ABEOCCIMA and investment magnates therein temporarily relocated their Ibara, Abeokuta Office to FUNAAB Vice-Chancellor’s Office on a courtesy visit that dove-tailed to robust synergy of deliberations on revitalization of agriculture, which is one of the cardinal objectives of Prof. Kehinde-led Administration.

The ABEOCCIMA delegates were led to the Vice-Chancellor’s office by the President, Otunba A. Babs Adesanya.

In his entourage is the highly reputed Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Lawson, who among others carved a niche as the first female President of NACCIMA, Chairman of the Advisory Board of US-Nigeria Trade Council, United Nation (UN) Sustainable Goal Development Ambassador, educationist and business mogul from the famous and sprawling full blooded Jiboku family of Egbaland in Abeokuta, Ogun State and in diaspora.

The delegation was received on behalf of he University by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. O. B. Kehinde.

Explaining he ratinoale behind the visit, the President of ABEOCCIMMA, Otunba Adesanya informed that they came to congratulate Prof. Kehinde, a prominent son of the soil on his well deserved appointment as Vice-Chancellor, praying God for His divine guidance and wisdom to succeed in office.

Revealing further, Otunba Adesanya pin-points that more importantly, the visit is in furtherance of the collaboration drive between ABEOCCIMA and FUNAAB, which the former initiated and met with the latter in a round table recently.

He informed of the readiness of ABEOCCIMA to partner FUNAAB in the area of moving the University from free range cattle rearing to ranching system, pointing out that the investment will require about two thousand (2,000) hectares of land.

According to the President of ABEOCCIMA, other areas of interest for investment are palm wine processing production, cashew cultivation and processing, cattle rearing and diary processing and Eucalyptus tree plantation.

Otunba Adesanya concluded by saying that the partnership will be a win-win situation for both parties.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation of FUNAAB’s Management readiness to partner ABEOCCIMA in all the areas mentioned.

Prof. Kehinde stated that the investment arm of the University, FUNAAB Integrated Ventures will be actively involved in the collaboration, in order for the investment to be free from all forms of bureaucracy without compromising standard.

The parties set the ball rolling and mahinceries in motion for the drafting of memorandum of understanding.
