COVID-19: 2020 Egba Youths Football Championship Postponed

Sequel to the directives from NIgeria Football Federation (NFF) and Ogun State Government banning gathering of over 50 people in a particular place, which is as a result of the endemic Coronavirus, Organisers of Egba Youth Football Championship (EYFC) hereby suspends the competition till further notice.

The competition which is still at the preliminary stage with 24 matches already played at the Muda Lawal Stadium, Asero, Abeokuta will now continue at a later date.

In a statement released by the Chairman of the planning committee, Olalekan Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, he stated that a new schedule of the competition will be communicated to concerned participating teams, stakeholders and the general public, as soon as the NFF and the government direct otherwise.

According to him, “it is important for us to comply with these directives in order to prevent the spread of the virus and to also join the Government in the campaign against the virus, as a stakeholder”.

“We, therefore, urge all participating Clubs and other stakeholders to observe various safety precautions and conducts, as advised by the relevant agencies”, he said.
