OGUN ASSEMBLY LAUDS GOVERNOR ABIODUN FOR REVAMPING HEALTH SECTOR

Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Health led by Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, has lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration for declaring the state of emergency in the health sector and for commencing the recruitment of health personnel in the sector in the State to ensure better health service delivery to the people.

Adeyanju gave the commendation while leading other members of the Committee to appraise the 2019 Budget performance of the State Ministry of Health, Hospital Management Board, State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OGSACA).

He stated that the current administration had been living up to its promise on fairness, equity and justice to all parts of the State in the delivery of democratic dividends,  pointing out the need to further equip the health care facilities in the State to meet the needs of the people.

The Chairman in company of Honourables Atinuke Bello, Latifat Ajayi, Yusuf Amosun and Haruna Wahab, challenged the management of the Ministry of Health and Hospital Management Board and other health related agencies to redouble their efforts to complement government effort at strengthening the sector in the State. 

Earlier in his presentation,  the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Adesanya Ayinde said during the period under review, the Ministry embarked on scale up community based health insurance scheme in all Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in the State.

He added that emergency drugs were provided for all patients and accident victims in all parts of the State, while his counterpart in the State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Nofiu Aigoro said that over N1.38bn was paid as salaries and allowances during the period. 

Ogun State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OGSACA) and Primary Health Care Development Board had their budget performance appraised by the Committee.
