The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under Operation Hadin Kai, has conducted a series of precise and devastating airstrikes against terrorists in Kukawa, Borno State, destroying a gun truck, neutralising several fighters, and providing close air support to ground troops.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to him, the operation comprised two distinct missions aimed at crippling the insurgents’ capabilities and supporting ground troops under attack.
Akinboyewa revealed that the first mission targeted a terrorists’ gun truck located approximately five kilometers west of Kukawa. “Credible intelligence pinpointed the location of the terrorists’ gun truck. NAF fighter jets swiftly responded, acquiring and attacking the target with precision, destroying the gun truck and significantly weakening their capacity,” he said.
The second operation was initiated following a distress call from ground troops in Kukawa, who were under intense assault by terrorists on motorcycles. “Our air assets rapidly engaged the terrorists at various intervals, neutralising many of them. The ground troops subsequently recovered over 20 abandoned motorcycles,” Akinboyewa added.
Highlighting the success of the operation, he noted, “Following the strike, ground troops are capitalising on the momentum, pursuing wounded and fleeing terrorists.
The NAF remains committed to the collective effort to restore peace and security in the country and will continue to provide critical airpower in support of ground forces and other security agencies.”
