The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed claims of interference by the presidency or any party machinery in the just-concluded Ondo State governorship election, which saw Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emerging victorious.

Speaking on Wednesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, Ganduje made the remarks during a visit by Governor-elect Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, who had earlier received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Dr. Ganduje emphasized that the APC’s victory was solely the result of popular votes by the people of Ondo State, who have remained steadfast with the party over the years.

“There was no subterranean support from any quarters. No external influence from the government, the presidency, or any other force. This victory was achieved through the collective effort of all — the elites, the middle class, and the grassroots. The electorate in Ondo stood firmly behind you,” Ganduje stated.

He credited the victory to the unity among APC chieftains in the state and the unwavering faith of the people in the party.

“This landslide victory reflects the progressive nature of Ondo people and their cooperation with you. It’s a mandate well deserved,” he added.

Aiyedatiwa Commends Ganduje’s Strategic Leadership

In his response, Governor Aiyedatiwa attributed the APC’s success in Ondo and Edo States to Ganduje’s exceptional political strategy and organizational skills.

“I cannot but appreciate the party, the platform that gave me the opportunity to run this race. This victory is a testament to the integrity, continuity, and good leadership we represent, alongside the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Aiyedatiwa remarked.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Ondo for their overwhelming support, noting the significance of winning across all local government areas in the state.

“The people of Ondo spoke clearly and loudly by voting for APC. They voted for integrity and progress. This victory places a burden on us to do even more than we have in the last 10 months,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa also expressed optimism about APC’s prospects in neighboring states like Osun and Oyo, hoping for similar victories in future elections.

The event underlined the APC’s commitment to consolidating its influence and delivering on its promises across the nation.
