• Osun Workforce Reiterates Support for Adeleke’s Administration
The Osun State Government has expressed its readiness to implement the new minimum wage of ₦75,000 for civil servants, following its approval by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
This historic decision was reached after extensive deliberations and recommendations from the Public Service Negotiation Committee.
In a statement issued in Osogbo on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, highlighted that the committee’s report, led by top government and labor representatives, formed the foundation for the Governor’s executive approval.
“The Governor’s administration remains committed to the welfare of workers who deliver quality service to the state despite its limited resources,” Alimi stated.
He emphasized that the new wage structure aligns with the administration’s dedication to social justice, economic growth, and enhanced living standards for Osun’s workers and residents.
Transparent and Collaborative Process
The Public Service Negotiation Committee comprised key figures from both government and labor, with the government team led by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, and the labor team spearheaded by the NLC Chairman, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo.
The negotiation process was marked by inclusivity, transparency, and mutual respect.
Hon. Akinleye lauded the Governor for approving the new wage, describing the process as unhindered and consultative.
Similarly, the Head of Service, Mr. Ayanleye Aina, assured that Osun workers would meet expectations by delivering quality services.
On behalf of the labor representatives, Comrade Arapasopo praised the Governor’s leadership, stating, “The ₦75,000 wage structure is a reflection of Osun’s economic realities and was carefully designed to ensure durability and sustainability.”
He reaffirmed the workforce’s unwavering support for Adeleke’s administration.
Call for Enhanced Service Delivery
Governor Adeleke urged civil servants to improve service delivery and embrace innovative solutions for public service efficiency.
He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in driving the state’s growth and development.
Committee Membership
Alimi listed the members of the government and labor negotiation teams, which included representatives from various ministries, departments, and unions. The government’s team featured officials such as:
1. Hon. Kazeem Akinleye – Chief of Staff to the Governor (Chairman)
2. Mr. Ayanleye Aina – Head of Service
3. Hon. Sola Ogungbile – Commissioner for Finance
4. Prof. Maruf Ademola Adeleke – Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning
5. Mrs. Yetunde Esan – Permanent Secretary, Economic Planning, Budget, and Development
The labor team included:
1. Comrade Christopher Arapasopo – NLC Chairman
2. Comrade Fatai Bimbo Sanusi – TUC Chairman
